Alice Wilby
Alice lectures on sustainable fashion at Central St Martins (short courses). She specialises in vintage-inspired flair and commercial fashion and prop styling using sustainable and ethical fashion and lifestyle brands. Alice is also an active member of the XR Boycott Fashion movement.
Khandiz Joni
Khandiz also specialises in high concept hair and makeup looks using clean, ethical products that push the boundaries of the ‘clean beauty’ narrative. She is also certified by the Carbon Literacy Trust and is a graduate of the Cambridge Institute of Sustainability Leadership.

Joining forces in 2014, when sustainability wasn’t high on the industry agenda, we created Novel Beings; a world-first style agency that represented hair and make-up artists, fashion, food and prop stylists – all dedicated to using and promoting sustainable and ethical fashion, beauty brands and practices. We dubbed them ‘conscious creatives’… simply meaning “human beings doing novel things”. Novel Being’s blend of industry-leading artists, seriously stylish visuals and uncompromising ethical approach became an instant hit with niche sustainable labels and household brands alike.

Novel Being’s clients included The BBC, The Times Magazine, Hunger TV, Fashion Revolution, Oxfam, WaterAid and Ogilvy. Alongside providing conscious creatives for our numerous clients, we worked together to art direct and produce groundbreaking global campaigns for award-winning charity Fashion Revolution, as well as lookbooks for socially-minded brands like Lowie and Tales of Thread.

Novel’s USP of carefully considering the sustainable and ethical variables of a job on an equal footing to the aesthetic requirements set us apart from other agencies. It allowed us to align shoot production for our clients with their CSR program or sustainable business plan. Even providing clients with reports to quantify how Novel’s considered production values minimised the shoots environmental impact.

In 2016, we presented our first show, named Fine Print, which comprised a series of installations all giving life to the social and environmental narratives represented in our work. Through these multimedia installations and the curation of the exhibition, a new era of NOVEL was born.

While Novel is no longer a (traditional) artist agency, the core values and principles remain the same. Drawing on our combined 30 years experience, we work as a creative duo, think-tank and social advocates – applying our #novelapproach to the brands and causes that resonate with us most.

The original agency transitioned into a booking platform, Novel Creatives, which allows talent to manage their own bookings, rates and careers – and allows clients to put together to perfect team based on budget, location and shared values.
